How do lithium ion batteries work in cars?
A lithium-ion battery is the most common types of battery used in electric vehicles (EVs). It’s suited to EVs because it holds a lot of energy, compared to its weight, and is very efficient at charging and discharging. It's the same type of battery found in phones and laptops – but electric cars use hundreds of batteries linked together.
Depending on the type of charger used, recharging can take anywhere between a couple of hours to almost a whole day.
