Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP)

What is the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP)?

The Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) is a laboratory test that is used to measure fuel consumption and CO2 emissions from passenger cars, as well as their pollutant emissions. All new cars sold to the public have to undergo such tests.

Introduced in 2018 to replace the previous NEDC testing regime, WLTP was developed using actual driving data, and so is designed to better represent how cars are used in real-world conditions.
